Ikhtisar

Senyawa organic molybdenum, khususnya molybdenum dialkyl dithiocarbamate (MoDTC), merupakan jenis kimia friction modifier terkemuka untuk engine oil yang membutuhkan efisiensi bahan bakar lebih baik. MoDTC terurai pada kontak tribological untuk membentuk lapisan molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) pada permukaan logam. Lapisan ini menghasilkan lamellar solid lubricant film dengan friksi rendah. Hal ini mengurangi boundary friction dan mixed friction secara signifikan, sehingga memberikan penghematan bahan bakar nyata di lapangan. MoDTC kompatibel dengan ZDDP dan umumnya digunakan pada treat rate 0.5–2.0 wt% dalam formulasi engine oil. MoDTC juga digunakan dalam formulasi grease untuk mengurangi friksi pada bearing berbeban tinggi.
