Overview

Even small amounts of dissolved oxygen can accelerate corrosion in pipelines, vessels, and injection systems. Oxygen scavengers are used to chemically reduce oxygen content and protect water-wet equipment from rapid deterioration.

These treatments are especially relevant in seawater injection, hydrotesting, stimulation support, and other water services where oxygen ingress is difficult to eliminate mechanically.

Selection note: Chemical oxygen removal is most effective when supported by good deoxygenation practice and appropriate monitoring of residual dissolved oxygen.
